WOOL

STONELEDGE FARM WOOL

We raise Merino sheep on our farm.  Merino wool is the some of the softest wool excellent for next to the skin wear.

Once a year our sheep are sheared and the wool is then washed, carded and spun into the softest yarns at a local spinning mill.  Some of the yarn is available for sale in skeins for hand knitting and crocheting.

Most of the yarn is sent on to a local knitting mill to be finished into woolen products.  Hats, gloves, mittens, fingerless gloves, socks are all knit on age old knitting machines and then returned to the farm.  Some woolen yarns are hand woven into heirloom quality blankets.  The finished yarns and products are hand dyed on the farm mainly using natural botanical dyes.

We are proud to have really local products.  Wool that is raised on our farm and then carefully spun and knit at small, local mills.

MITTENS, GLOVES, FINGERLESS GLOVES, HATS, NECK WARMERS, HEAD BANDS

Local from start to finish. Raised on our farm, our own Stoneledge Farm merino wool is locally cleaned, carded and spun into yarn.  The yarn is then knit on age old knitting machines at a local textile mill.  Some of the finished woolen goods are hand dyed on the farm.  Most of our dyes are natural botanical dyes.  Stunning colors from nature.  Reds, yellows, purple, pink and blue along with black and natural smoky brown.  Smoky brown and white with brown are not dyed.  The color is from the natural color of the wool.   Merino wool is very fine wool and produces yarns that are soft and comfortable yet warm to wear.

YARN

Yarn is available in natural white or naturally colored brown skeins all from our flock of white Merino Sheep and  brown Corriedale Sheep.   If you are purchasing yarn for a project please purchase enough yarn to finish the project.  The blend of naturally colored fleeces will vary season to season as the color of the wool can vary.

HANDWOVEN BLANKETS

Heirloom quality, local origin and crafting using Merino wool from our Stoneledge Farm flock.

Each blanket is hand woven from our Stoneledge Farm Merino wool yarns. Stoneledge Farm partners with local woolen mill Battenkill Fiber to spin the wool from our flock of Merino Sheep into yarn. Local weaver Comfort Cloth, weaves the yarn to create exquisite, hand crafted woven blankets.
