Sage and Butter Garlic Sauce

Serves:   1
(serving size: 1/3 cup)

  • Prep Time:   5 minutes
  • Cook Time:   30 seconds
  • Total Time:   5 minutes

Ingredients

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp chopped sage (or 1 tsp dried)
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tbsp finely chopped parsley
salt & freshly milled pepper

Directions

Heat the butter and oil in a small skillet over high heat. When bubbling, add the sage and fry for about 30 seconds. Add the garlic and cook until it has perfumed the oil. Remover from the heat, stir in the parsley, and season with a pinch of salt and plenty of pepper.

Wonderful spooned over pasta, winter squash, or a warm slice of bread

Variations of this recipe 

 add 1 1/2 teaspoons (packed) finely grated lemon peel

or

2 tablespoons minced shallot and 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
